Thank you Amenrou for making the post to get us started. As I said, I would be elaborating on what exactly we are dealing with at the beginning. To start us off, I am simply going "tell the story". And then it can be broken into clan bios and will of course be more explained int he clan histories themselves individually. Now, we, for now, are only going to include major parts of the major clans. When other canon clans are created, IF they are created, we can elaborate further on their part during the series. But for the most part, they will be largely background for the main plot involving the major clans.
I am going to treat naruto like the "Christ" of the series. History/time will be divided by his life. Not quite A.D and B.C. but something to that effect so we get an accurate idea of the time lapse, where we have been, and where we are. It is very important at all times of history, in order to get the most accurate view on the present, to look at the events of the past. No one starts a movie in the last thirty minutes.
Therefore let us start at the beginning...
I am going to simply state it as though Naruto Uzumaki was born in the year 1000. Meaning it has been 1000 years since Kaguya bit of the fruit, since that is the first major historical event that we are truly given. What lies before then is up for speculation and filler. So, 1000 years. Year 800 is around the time of Hashirama and Madara Uchiha's lives. Their generation preceeded Hiruzen and his generation preceeded Jiraiya's, who preceeded Minato, who preceeded Kakashi, who preceeded Naruto and Sasuke.
Generation = 25 years. Hashirama and Tobirama collectively would have ruled from 800-900. And then it would have been four generations from Hiruzen to Naruto Uzumaki; making his birth around the year 1000.
P.S. I will also be lableing the major events that we are going to establish as historical markers for us; this is done throughout the series and so will we do it so our members have a reference for historical knowledge IC, and so we have an idea of how to make plots in the future.
Follow me here, because here is where we tell the story.
Event 1:Defeating Kaguya.
Year 1017
We are going to begin by somewhat ending the present Naruto events and by summarizing them by the most likely outcome (yes, I know the plot keeps twisting but we can still make educated guesses as to the end result - sort of). This will be some story-telling but also will be a matter of education. We need to thoroughly understand this part so we can move on to the future. Read closely, especially if you have not kept up with the series.
They beat Kaguya eventually via sealing her. She gets cocky, who wouldn't be with that much chakra, and gets sealed. Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha then have the decision of doing as fate has repeatedly done - fight for the throne. They are the chosen ones, the incarnations of Indra and Ashura. As Hargoromo said when he gave them each half his power and blessing - "the future is up to you two!" Let us examine what they chose in why.
First, lets recount real quick where this all began according to the series. It is important to know this in order to know not only the information that was made known to the nations and therefore affects their view of things, but what will affect the decision of Sasuke and Naruto Uzumaki in this most mementous decision. So we will work our way from the ground upward.
Kaguya is a princess who hails from an unknown distant land, and had lived long before the founding of the hidden villages, during an era of endless wars between mankind (similar to our time period). Longing for peace, Kaguya decided that it was necessary for her to attain god-like powers in order to put an end to all conflicts. For this reason, she defied the taboo of consuming the fruit of the Shinju, becoming one with the holy tree's power. For her deed of single-handedly ending the wars, Kaguya was worshiped as the Rabbit Goddess. As time passed, however, the power she held ultimately corrupted her, and Kaguya sought to prevent humanity from causing any further harm to the world by trapping them within the Infinite Tsukuyomi, and converted the victims that were assimilated by the Shinju into White Zetsu. This and the other horrifying acts Kaguya committed struck terror into the hearts of the then-powerless people around her, for which she would be feared as the Demon.
Alongside Hamura, Hagoromo was born as one of two children to Kaguya Ōtsutsuki, a princess who ate the forbidden Chakra Fruit of the Shinju that appeared once a millennium in an effort to gain god-like abilities, which she used to put an end to the constant wars during that era. Both of whom inherited the same powerful chakra she wielded and unique dōjutsu along with it; Hagaromo Rinnegan - Hamura Byakugan. Angered at the power gained by her children, Kaguya and the Shinju melded into an entity that would later become known as the Ten-Tails with one singular goal: reclaim the chakra she felt was rightfully hers. Angered by the fact that her chakra had been spread to others, Kaguya manifested with the Shinju together into the Ten-Tails, which attempted to reclaim her chakra.
The Ten-Tails rampaged throughout the lands until Hagoromo and his brother managed to defeat the beast, with Hagoromo becoming its jinchūriki, causing him to be revered as a god for the virtue of his victory. Hagoromo and Hamura also sealed away Kaguya due to her power hungry nature. With his knowledge of the concept of chakra, Hagoromo travelled across the land, giving chakra to others as well as spreading his ideals and religion, ninshū, which eventually became the ability known as ninjutsu. According to Jiraiya, his great deeds and ultimate desire to bring peace to the war-torn world made him widely known as the Saviour of this World.
Hagoromo's ultimate wish was to establish peace across the world, but it was a goal that would never be achieved in a single lifetime. Knowing this, he chose to entrust his dream and legacy to his two sons, and began to teach them ninshū. The older son, Indra, was acknowledged by Hagoromo as a true prodigy, who quickly began to revel in his natural prowess and became very solitary and even anti-social. The younger son, Asura, proved to be the exact opposite, having shown no special abilities or natural talent, but he pushed on through his limitations, growing stronger and more mature because of his struggles and making friends along the way. Hagoromo acknowledged Asura's chosen path, agreeing that love and cooperation were the true keys to peace.
He became severely weakened and bed-ridden upon removing the Juubi from himself and creating nine separate entities for its power to reside. He was kept alive by the husk of the Juubi, which he would soon seal inside the moon itself; CREATING THE MOON. On his deathbed, he chose Asura to be his successor, but Indra, overcome by bitterness and envy as well as being encouraged and manipulated by Black Zetsu, fought against his brother, beginning a war between them that would continue through their descendants. Black Zetsu was created by Kaguya Ōtsutsuki shortly before she was sealed as the Ten-Tails by her sons, Hagoromo and Hamura. It would later tempt Hagoromo's eldest son, Indra, to go to war with his younger brother, Asura. Over the centuries, it manipulated Indra's descendants, the Uchiha clan, as well as Asura's, the Senju clan, in an attempt awaken the Rinnegan in one of the brothers' reincarnations. To this end, it modified Hagoromo's tablet to claim that Infinite Tsukuyomi would be the Uchiha's salvation, among other things. It recorded many events in history for Kaguya, including Madara Uchiha and Hashirama Senju's last fight in the Valley of the End.
Point is, Indra was MANIPULATED into hating his brother, and seriously influenced. And thus began infinite conflict. This is key to future events that we will have, so keep reading.
Suspecting that Indra or one of his reincarnations would eventually attempt to take Asura's power for themselves, Hagoromo left behind a tablet detailing his history in an attempt to make them reconsider. Only those who possess the Rinnegan can fully decipher the contents of the tablet, while a reader with other dōjutsu such as the Sharingan can still partially interpret the information. However, unknown to him, Black Zetsu had altered the contents of his tablet so he could manipulate Indra's descendants, the Uchiha clan, through the ages into resurrecting Kaguya and initiating the Infinite Tsukuyomi anew. The tablet was designed to bring peace between the Uchiha and Senju; even stating "that when two opposite forces work together there can be world peace", and such other things. It was twisted so that it could be interpreted that the infinite tsukiyomi was the salvation of the Uchiha...
PRESENT. So, we are back at the present events. Sasuke Uchiha and Naruto Uzumaki have the choice now whether or not to continue this history of hatred and fighting. They now know that all of it has been a ruse in order to ressurrect Princess Kaguya; and that their fathers were tricked by the Zetsu. Sasuke, though still a selfish brat, realizes that the Uchiha are not naturally evil, but were persuaded to hate their brothers.
What happens as a result? Who wins between them for spot as Hokage? Do they even fight?
...
The answer is... no. No they do not. They join forces. Sounds anti-climactic right? Well no. And though this is a prediction, it is a wise one. The whole point of all of the past generations was to reach the point where we are at now. All the tickery and war was so that Kaguya could come back and reclaim the world. All the secrets are spilled - the cat is out of the bag. It seems the present events are simply a re-run of the continual struggle that Indra and Ashura have been going through, throughout the ages. And black zetsu guiding it along until he got the right match (i.e. Madara and Hashirama) that would make it possible for her ressurrection. Now that she is defeated, the curse is broken. There is no need for continual incarnations - because the conflict is resolved. The first two incarnations of the two brothers that come together and unite in peace instead of continuing conflict. Do they fight? Yes. But eventually Sasuke and Naruto both realize that the have the choice to make the future different than it has been in the past years - and they choose that...
Event Two: World Peace
Year 1018-1120
Curse is broken, no more incarnations (or so we think), and the world's two most powerful shinobi are united over the world. Infinite Tsukiyomi is over, the captives are freed, and the entire four nations, that have been working together because of a common enemy, are still united and even refuse to be separated anymore. The unite in jubilation as the two saviours are side by side, like brothers, both rulers of the world of shinobi. They set up a council, which is the previous Kage, and there is a Kage-like system but with joint rulership. Naruto is advised by Shikamaru, and so on and so forth. All clans unite, and all lands are free roaming. There is world peace.
There is no fighting, no war, no anything. Naruto spreads chakra throughout the world, similar to the Sage, and everyone begins to understand each other finally. There is less lying, less hate, less envy. The five nations is made a beacon of peace, and Konohaghakure is the center of that peace; the capital city.
During this time, the lifetimes of the Sage Naruto and Prince Sasuke, clans began to grow. The idea of "clan" is still quite diminishing because of the grouping, but at the same time growing and expanding. Their is no war, and therefore no death. Clans all love one another and are able to appreciate each's unique contribution to the world. Most interestingly, all around the world, exiles begin to return to the five nations. And by exiles, I mean people of certain clans that left for various reasons. Not the least of which is a small crowd of Uchiha who left during the reign of the nidaime Hokage, as well as a small group of Senju and Uzumaki who left during the time of Shodai Hokage. The reasons why they left will be explained later. Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha make sure to search out to the ends of the earth, those who have fled the nations form fear; namely, their ancestors whom they hear are out there somewhere.
Point is, they are welcomed in with open arms. The Uchiha clan, instead of being seen as darkness, is seen as half of the light that saved the world. The forgotten Uzumaki clan hears of an Uzumaki leader, and feels safe enough to return; them having left when Uzushiogakure was attacked all around because of fear from other clans long ago. They are put in a special place in Konoha and made able to live in peace. The Uchiha, instead of being scurged and rejected, are exalted every where among the nations. Sasuke Uchiha does his best to establish peace in their clan, and good standing with the rest of the world. He has decided that to avenge the name of the Uchiha, he must show the world they too, are a clan of love. And to fix the sins of the past.
The tailed beasts no longer have hatred for humans, and are purified through Naruto Uzumaki. The Senju clan once more, though timidly, take part in the village system. They are quite a small clan, especially at first, but are there. The Hyuuga are pretty much the same, and very trusting and favorable to the Uzumaki. They now trust and like the Uchiha, but are still a bit weary and aware of their capacity for evil. Skepticism is to be expected from such a clan at all times to a degree. The Kaguya clan, believed to be largely wiped out and hated because of past crimes, comes to light eventually. Their KKG is actually something that is activated not by the fighting impulse, but by the impulse to protect and to be peaceful. Thus, more and more are awakening it more than ever ironically. As a matter of fact, all shinobi clans are reaching their peak excellency because of the time of peace and growth spread throughout nations. Their is no conflict, but instead chakra is used to display the various KKG in terms of practice battles and overall enjoyment and appreciation of uniqueness.
Event 3: After the death of Sasuke and Naruto.
Year 1120-1300
Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha live very long, full lives. Their mortality reaches them eventually, but not after about a century of complete peace. The longest in historical record since the time of the Sage of Six Paths. The Uzumaki clan is back to full throttle, having established a small area where they reside in Konoha, back where they used to. Not quite a village, but basically. Every clan has their own little spot that they reside, but it is open to the public largely. Their culture is resuming, and they, not suprisingly, are quite fruitful and numerous. The Uchiha are the same, and so are many other smaller clans that are througout the nations. The Kaguya and Hyuuga are of similar practice, and therefore have made friends quite well. After the death of the two world leaders, the world decides to elect a counsel that will keep the unity of peace. The Uzumaki eventually give up their hierarchy spot to the Senju, who are considered to be, along with the Uchiha, the direct line historically with leading the world, as they have in the past. That being said, the bijuu are kept among the Uzumaki.
A representative of each clan joins the counsel, with the Uchiha and Senju having the highest standing. The Uchiha clan largely lead for the most part, and along with the counsel, the world is kept in peace for quite some time. Ninshuu is still throughout the nations, and there is peace.
Event 3. Challenge to Peace.
Year 1300-1500.
After a while, the shinobi villages decide that in the interest of privacy and trust, the system of ninshuu need be taken away. People no longer share chakra after a while, people begin to become apprehensive of the future. They begin to argue over which clan should have precedence over the other, and who should have which land etc. This breeds a bit of conflict. People want their own space, and their own heritage; not to share it with others. Mainly, the conflict is over power, land, and resources. The competitiveness begins to arise in each clan, and questioning of authority breeds supsicion. Why should the Uchiha have such authority; weren't they the ones who destroyed the world in the first place? And what about the Uzumaki? They have all the bijuu; what if they just wanted to wipe us all out some day? Who could stop them? Who gets Kumogakure? Who gets Kiri?
This issues began to arise, especially with their at first being a common people, and then everyone withdrawing back to a clan basis slowly and slowly, more and more. People wanted a spot; a clique, a something that defined them. Thus the concept of CLANS began to become stronger and stronger. They wanted a family and structure instead of it simply being wide spread. That worked when everyone's hearts were united in one under Naruto. But now he was gone. And the trust that once united them has begun to diminish slightly. They feel that perhaps the council is a bit arbitrary, and that some clans are not getting a fair share. Thus begins to be conflict.
It first begins in the realm of lands. The council determines where clans may abide, and which lands they may be given. This begins to be an issue for obvious reasons. Some clans want certain lands, some clans want a certain portion of the land. It is given according to populace; but rivalries between clans make fairness a relative term. Thus there are issues. The Uchiha, always having been tough to put other clans before themselves in order to make up for past sins, decides to give up much of their portion of Konoha for other clans. As tensions grow, they are viewed more and more as the blame for things - they are the easiest targets. Several clans want the bijuu to be spread out for safety sake - the council disagrees on account that it will breed temptation to fighting. They begin to suspect that the Uchiha are trying to "control" the world. That they are, like they always have done, trying to use their "eyes" to manipulate and control the masses. Conspiracy.
The main reason for this is the fact that the Uchiha become very strict on making sure that the land is divided equally. They, along with the Senju strive for this; but they are blamed for any issues that arise as a result of clan conflict. Eventually, they are instituted as something similar to the "police" in that they go around handling disputes and issues around the various lands. In one instance, a very infamous one, an Uchiha scout was sent to resolve a conflict between the Aburame and the Hyuuga. The Hyuuga clan, having a bit of an issue with pride, refused to share their land with the Aburame. An Uchiha scout was sent to resolve the issue, and came mid-fight between a Hyuuga and a Aburame. The Hyuuga and the Aburame had gotten into a scuffle about the issue and it got physical. The Hyuuga Clan leader attacked the Aburame and struck him with the gentle fist in the gut. This started a small scramble. The uchiha showed up and stood in between the arrogant Hyuuga and the Aburame, the Hyuuga approaching slowly to dish another blow. The Hyuuga demanded that the Uchiha leave, as this was none of his business. The Uchiha refused, inciting the Hyuuga to become furious. His pride was on the line, defending his clan's territory.
The Hyuuga took battle stance and approached angrily, and here is when the historical moment took place. The Uchiha revealed a tomoe three sharingan, and placed the Hyuuga under subjection. He hypnotized/stunned him, and the Hyuuga fell to his knees. The entire area was silent. The powers of the sharingan had been widely taboo for quite some time. People had bad memories of it, and the Uchiha, out of compassion, did not reveal it to people because of bad memories of the Mugen Tsukiyomi. To see it again was... terrifying. More so, this would be the beginning of a feud between the Uchiha and Hyuuga because of this event. It was an extreme offence to the Hyuuga clan to have their leader humbled in front of so many people and during such a time. The leader was supposed to be able to fight for the cause of the people and establish peace and strength for his clan. This was an embrassment that could not be forgiven. The Uchiha left the area, and the council would hear of this event.
The Hyuuga who was stunned was of course, represented the Hyuuga in the council. And he would plot against the Uchiha privately, out of hatred, to dethrone them from authority. They did this by telling the other clan council members that the Uchiha were secretly controlling the council with their eyes or planning to. That they were plotting to take over. And that their sharingan abilities should be banned on account of the danger it had caused the world in the past. The world, largely influenced by the Hyuuga, began to hate the Uchiha as well. The Kaguya, largely being taught and instructed on how to build a community by the Hyuuga, separated themselves from the Hyuuga as they felt that their hatred for the Uchiha was unwarranted.
Event 4: War:
Year 1500-2000
The hatred for the Uchiha continued and soon the time came where there was much tension in the lands. Soon came the time where people felt there ought to be a single leader of the group. A clan head that would lead instead of there being two. At the time, the Senju had been fighting to keep the Uchiha honored in the eyes of the people, but to no avail. They were blamed for the majority of the problems that arose and the Hyuuga began to spread lies and frame them for a myriad of things that went wrong. Eventually the Bijuu were let go by the Uzumaki to live lives away from the conflict of shinobi, and they felt this was best so that in the case of war, they would not be again manipulated. This event too was blamed on the Uchiha. They were accused of secretly controlling the Bijuu or planning to use them to force people into subjection. The Hyuuga eventually hosted a vote that would last for about six months. During this time, the different clan districts were to vote for one leader, with a council being a body of representatives. The Senju opted for the Uchiha to lead, as they had just had a bright, young new leader arise that was of a good heart and very sound mine. They also knew that this would help in creating a greater image for the Uchiha than the world currently had. However this did not work. The Hyuuga, out of extreme mistrust of the Uchiha, would cause things to swing so that the Senju would be elected. The Kaguya, still small and apprentices of the Hyuuga culture, sided against them. They felt the Uchiha were being largely slighted and went against the vote of the Hyuuga, much to the anger of the Hyuuga clan leader.
The other clans would vote, out of comfort, for the Senju - including the Uzumaki. Thus, there would be an election. Now the Senju and Uchiha had been extremely close. Closer than any other clans to each other. The Uchiha, still fighting to recover their name from the earlier incident, did not understand why others hated them so much, even after their efforts and sacrifices. The Senju did their best to requite this, but again, there was no use. When the Senju leader was elected has Kage over all nations, the Uchiha began to revert back into hate. They blamed the Senju for the conspiracy against them, and felt the council had been setting them up for failure all along. This departure was not pretty. The Uchiha left the Capital Village (Konoha) and would depart to the mountains of Kumogakure; and the Kaguya would follow. They too, though ignorantly, felt that the Senju had used the Hyuuga in order to accomplish this and were hurt.
The Senju did everything they could to make peace with the Uchiha, but it was simply not possible. The bias was back, and stronger than ever. The Uchiha isolated themselves and went to survival mode.
The Kaguya went with them, and both plotted against the Senju and Hyuuga.
Soon after this, the Uchiha began to indeed attack and conquer the land in Kumogakure, much to the dismay of the council. They decided to deal with the issue; and thus breeded war. The Hyuuga felt good at the chance to annihilate the Uchiha clan; which their transgressions would soon prompt. The Senju refused to go all out against them, though the council listened to the admonish of the Hyuuga which stated that such should be done. "The world will never be safe while those red-eyed demons exist." In the next couple of years, the clans within the main villages would go to war with the Kaguya and the Uchiha. Sides were taken, and bloody war would continue for three centuries. The more war, the less trust. Eventually there was no political system at all. It was simply war and survival. Everyone clung to their clan, and watched as the world around them was destroyed. The world became so war-torn and destroyed that no longer could clans trust each other to cooperate. The clans separated and warred against one another. At one point even, there was WORLD WAR; the last great event of the age. Over three million shinobi perished in a span of five years. Several clans were wiped out, others brought to the brink of extinction. The Senju nor the Hyuuga, nor the Uzumaki were leaders of anything. Everything was on a clan by clan basis, with some clans joining sides with them in order to feel safer. Sanity was lost among many, and there was mass chaos and lawlessness everywhere. The Senju were blamed by the Hyuuga for allowing this to happen, and their relationship severed. They felt the Uchiha should have been finished while they had the chance. They would isolate themselves away. The Uchiha and Kaguya would remain allies, though having a strained relationship. The Uchiha became extremely volatile, and because of the war - powerful. Many MS were awakened at the loss of loved ones and such things.
On the other hand, the Senju were weakned. The spiritual power that radiated through them began to be lost, and they were crowded out of Konohagakure and into Sunagakure. They realized that wherever they were, they brought the conflict and hatred of the Uchiha and therefore left for the safety of others. They were largely resented for failure to assassinate the Uchiha clan when they were in power. They would go into Sunagakure and be in a very remote place where they were shamed largely and rejected by all around. Blamed for the destruction of the world. The Uzumaki went along with them, as they were family clans. Both quite small now as well as isolated inside of a district in Sunagakure; the desert. They were under a curse, and more desperate than they had ever been, and sunken below the shame of their failure to keep world peace. The Uchiha were considered demons; and hated by many. The Senju/Uzumaki blamed for the war; the Hyuuga isolated from everyone, and in absolute hatred towards the Uchiha of course. The Kaguya were quite neutral, but considered the Hyuuga to be responsible for everything. The Uchiha, of course, blamed the Senju.
And thus we are here. Year 2000. The clan histories will tell of what happens from here, as regards to present events. From here do clans begin to take their current roles.
Let me know if you have questions; sorry it was long, but I think it will help TREMENDOUSLY.
